Upgrade and Migration Status

I Am Waiting

Upgrade of the site has gone more smoothly than we initially envisioned. The news site is up and running, covering about 10 domains and subdomains ('legacy' addresses). Git is working, IPFS is working, IRC is working, Gemini is working (Techrights temporarily has two Gemini capsules, one hosted from home and another from a datacentre) and we can soon shift back our attention to Daily Links, bulletins, and of course restoring old material as static pages. There are over 40,000 missing pages at the moment (their media files, including videos, are already in place) and we must very carefully convert these as data loss means information loss or amnesia.

We're not too worried about brand names (like "Google") deranking or deindexing stuff due to downtime or age. This site is for people, not for bots (e.g. Googlebot), and important old stories will be discovered eventually. The move to static pages has already been implemented in Tux Machines (this past Wednesday, about 170,000 pages in total).

Please be patient; we expect all the old material to be back and old processes can be fully restored. We don't want to specify a date or make deadline-type promises though. Our hands are already full. My wife and I both suffered COVID-19 this week (took us almost 4 years to get infected) and we're recovering. My voice is still now good enough for new videos.
