Going Above 4% Again
A few months ago, or back in March, I caught a statCounter snapshot of GNU/Linux "proper" at 4.26% (when some blogs/news sites boasted it had passed 4.03%) and since then, for a few months, it fell back as low as 3.77% if not lower. This month it seems to be increasing almost every day and now it's measured as follows (it was 3.95% yesterday):
Maybe 4% (or above) by month's end?
So where does this growth come from? It's hard to figure this out without getting daily dumps of all the data (from all countries) and then comparing the data. It's feasible, albeit a big and complex job. Here's Sudan in recent months (the conflict still rages on there, the media barely pays any attention):
Notice Windows at all-time lows. Add Android et al and Windows is down to just 2%. █
