Confession of a Convention Game Master
In the two decades that preceded the COVID pandemic, I used to run table-top roleplaying games at gaming conventions. In those days, convention organizers would often recruit more game masters than strictly necessary to serve all the players -- you could easily end up with an empty table because other games running in the same time slot attracted all the players. To make sure that I'll get to actually run the games I worked so hard on preparing, I had to get good at writing "teasers": short promotional blurbs that get distributed to convention attendants as part of the programme, which they use to choose which game to attend at any given time slot.

Rön
“Rön” is a good Swedish word. It’s used to mean “science’s best current guesses, current understanding, with full awareness that that might change completely if we learn more”. I’m not too fond of even weak Sapir-Whorf but maybe that one word is pretty good and maybe I’m pretty glad I got to grow up with it as core vocab.

and now nature takes its course
i've been eaten alive by so many mosquitos. even with all the repellant, i keep getting nipped. the positives is that i've seen more butterflies and dragonflies floating around my yard now - and hummingbirds! my cat stares from the window, desperate to eat one, but i'm keeping her locked up for now. at least until i can find a harness big enough to fit her.

Reading old release notes
For a project I recently have been reading old release notes.
I have been gowning through the release notes of Vim from 1999 until today, and the release notes of Emacs from the same period.
