Congratulations to Romania, Where Windows is Now "Minority Market Share" Platform
OVER the past year if not the past two years I've checked Romania's so-called 'Web usage' data from statCounter quite routinely, but rarely had anything worthwhile to report until last week ("Vista 11 Adoption Has Stalled This Past Year, Fell This Past Summer"). It was mentioned in passing or along the way before, but typically it was just a lot of Windows, more so than the rest of East Europe or the former U.S.S.R.
Today in IRC Sunil pointed out that, as per this latest data, Windows is losing its lead:
That's Romania, historically a Microsoft stronghold (we explained the reasons in the distant past).
Time will tell if GNU/Linux can pass 5% on the desktop/laptop "form factor" there. There are some well known reporters from Romania who cover GNU/Linux. █
