linuxhint.com Died 12 Months Ago (After Adopting Image Slop)
Zombie sites
We used to link a lot to linuxhint.com. On average about half a dozen times per day, mostly HowTos. That stopped when the site stopped, about 12 months ago:
Since then they published only 2 more items (notice they're visually different). One of them seems like LLM slop and the other seems real.
Sapling helps confirm my gut feeling:
The lesson of the story is, if you turn to slop you will kill your site. We see it all the time and we gave another example two days ago.
It is better to produce less but only real articles than to "dope" (or cheat) with LLMs. Once you slop you cannot stop because a) you lack the passion to write; b) your site is already 'polluted' with 'filler' anyway.
Do not cross to the dark side. Don't be seduced by mindless hype; sane people never appreciate LLM slop. They jog on the moment they realise they read the output of some chatbot with no comprehension of what it spews out. The Web is a vast place; there's no lack of real and accurate information in it. █
