Stefano Maffulli, Executive Director of the Open Source Initiative, Resigns or Gets Removed (We'll Continue Covering OSI Scandals)
A dozen mentions of "AI", not much about "Open Source"
6 days ago we published a long article about Open Source Initiative (OSI) scandals. Today the chief of the OSI, who netted about $700,000 in his current role, basically announced that he's stepping down (or was told to step down). Who will replace him? A 'former' Microsoft person? Even worse than the current ones?
Deborah Bryant (IBM) is temporarily in charge, just like at GNOME (also IBM).
Keyword-stuffed or spammed with the term "AI" (they refer to LLMs, which aren't even AI!), the press release says a lot by saying so little.
"Stefano Maffulli will be departing his role in October," it says. Wow, talk about short notice!
That also quotes Tracy Hinds, whose scandal we recently took note of (less than a month ago). She's the OSI's foremost censor. She censors critics or criticism.
Maffulli's own blog post says other nonsense. He's unnecessarily hyping up Microsoft's GitHub (his sponsor; he got salaries from there). His blog post is drivel about "hey hi hey hi hey hi hey hi hey hi" (the term "AI" is mention 12 times).
Towards the end Maffulli writes: "Everyone from big tech to Melania Trump are trying to make sense of AI and the potential for damage is high. This is where we must now turn our attention."
