Microsoft is Disloyal Towards Its Most Loyal Employees
Against its most faithful enablers
Disloyalty to (or towards) people is a sign of a person's integrity. Good people are loyal to friends, whereas opportunists like psychopaths would backstab what was assumed to be a friend if they stand to gain from that. Principled, honest people are frank, consistent, and generally predictable. This applies not just to business partners and personal friends; that extends to family, including spouses and children.
Over the weekend Business Insider published a report that many slopfarms have since then repeated with permutations. I saw over a dozen such permutations, which seem like state-of-the-art plagiarism (sold as "LLM" or "intelligence"). One slopfarm chose the headline "20 Years at Microsoft, Laid Off in Minutes!"
Business Insider made a splash; it was mentioned by name quite a lot. So it had a lot of visibility and impact (the general story, even if Business Insider wasn't properly attributed or even visited; Business Insider itself got caught publishing slop in the recent past, so it's not in a moral position to bemoan this practice).
We don't wish to link to Business Insider because for almost a year the site caused browsers to crash or freeze entire machines (by using up several gigabytes of RAM; we've reproduced this severe issue on multiple several machines, independently).
The short story is, someone was laid off by Microsoft after two decades despite working very hard for the company. He then decided to tell what many people already knew: companies aren't people, they lack emotions, and it would be foolish to devote one's life to them.
When I found out that Sirius Open Source had defrauded my colleagues and I there wasn't considerable pain because I didn't devote much of my life or my health to that company. It didn't even surprise me all that much that it had engaged in crimes against its own staff, knowing what the CEO had done to his former wives and his 4 daughters (whom I met; they're all still furious at him).
The world is full of sociopaths and generally bad people. Some assault women, some do heavy drugs, and some of them even attack my wife (and other family members).
We're not easily discouraged by bullies; their own behaviour speaks volumes. As a famous flick put it (to paraphrase a bit), "the world is a nasty place", so prepare to be hit ("gotta take the hits") and "keep moving forward". Being hit leads to better resistance. What happened at Sirius Open Source only made me more sceptical of those who use the term "Open Source". That corrupt CEO used Apple products. He used the term "Open Source" for marketing. █
“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward.” – Rocky Balboa
