Slopwatch: LinuxSecurity, Brian Fagioli, and WebProNews
Tonight's Slopwatch starts with LinuxSecurity. The site used to publish more slop. It used to have real names associated with the slop. Not anymore.
See, the output has been more scarce lately and it's from a pseudonym:
LinuxSecurity will learn the hard way that becoming a slopfarm is a site's suicide.
The same goes for Brian Fagioli, who seems to be ripping off real coverage to come up with LLM slop and slop images:
Hours after this article (posted by Marius Nestor) Fagioli published some more slop:
He's trying to wiggle his way into sites like Slashdot, where he submits links to his slopfarm. Then he tries to use Slashdot - as in the brand - to legitimise his slop.
Terrible stuff!
Speaking of terrible stuff, if you search Google News for "linux" news you're find WebProNews all over the place. It's a slopfarm with fake text, fake images, and fake author names. Some hours ago Google News spewed out 8 results (for "linux") from this slopfarm, including this topic turned into slop:
Many Phoronix ripoffs:
Promoting malware:
Some openwashing:
And slop that's helping Microsoft with the googlebombing against KDE's and Nitrux's "maui":
If Google News fails to keep slop under control (i.e. delisted), then fewer people will bother with Google News. █
