South America's biggest country, Brazil, has seen GNU/Linux usage rising a lot based on analysis of metrics. The same is true for Argentina (see above).
South America is, in general, getting a bad "vibe" as GAFAM does more and more espionage in South America [1, 2], with fatal outcomes.


Brazil and its neighbours must have paid attention to what happened earlier this year in Venezuela. The US, exercising digital control over equipment on the ground in Venezuela (not limited to back doors), misused its access to cause outages amid a "Special Operation" raid that left many dead (some Cubans, some locals) and culminated in the kidnapping of the head of state and his wife. █
