Today we have a new mayor; it's the one my other half and I voted for. Endorsed by our Prime Minister, her predecessor (whose deputy is also a Mancunian, one who has helped me for years and now helps my wife as well), "Bev" will move us "to the left". This likely means affordability and more taxes on the rich.
Two weeks ago, on a Friday, Daniel Pocock was revealed as a political contender in the UK, with lots of media covering that (we saw over 30 news sites). As seen online, the cult associated with the litigants that engage in lawfare against us is already heckling him in social control media (typically in snide remarks or harassing comments) - we've become all too familiar with these tactics!
Mainstream media coverage (e.g. [1, 2]) in his "homeland" (Australia) is serving to affirm his legitimacy as a serious candidate, not a satire like some others.
Assuming the "voices of GAFAM" (or the hecklers they sponsor) lose their sway in social control media - or social control media loses its sway in general (another large instance of Mastodon has just shut down) - the country can regain its sovereignty and its voice. █
