blinds
when the town goes quiet the room feels too big and too small at the same time the nights are dark here but I crave that light that still shines outside these walls waiting for me to open the blinds

Moana (2026)
The first Moana was great - an original story with the best original songs of any Disney animated feature in the century to that point.
This isn’t quite a shot for shot remake, and all the new material makes it worse, but starting from a fairly high bar means it doesn’t get too bad. It’s just a completely pointless vanity project.

OpenBSD Updates
OpenBSD now includes dbupdate(8) that updates cert.pem (there may have been some fuss about a certificate authority?) and the zoneinfo files (as humans like to monkey around with the time zone definitions for better or worse. Mostly worse, if you've ever read the comments in the timezone database). dbupdate(8) does pre-pend /etc/ssl/cert.local.pem so you can have local certificate authorities added to the (possibly too large and too complicated) global cert.pem. Or you could handle the "what should files contain?" problem with configuration management, but those also can get too large and too complicated.

Emacs Chat with Sacha Chua
Yesterday I joined Sacha Chua for a new episode of her Emacs Chat podcast, where we talked about Emacs and life. I gave a quick tour of my Emacs configuration, discussing at length my configurations for EXWM (Emacs X Window Manager) among other topics like Emacs's facility for visually indicating buffer boundaries in the fringe by setting ~indicate-buffer-boundaries~ and my convenience configuration macros.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
