The British Government May be Pulling Out of the UPC Fantasy, Team UPC in Panic or Denial About It

Helen Goodman thinks it's a bad thing, but British businesses actually detest the UPC

Helen Goodman

Summary: The latest news about the UPC -- news that Team UPC conveniently ignores -- is that the British government "withdrew motion on Unified Patent Court with no notice"

YESTERDAY we published an important post about the dire (for the UPC) situation in Germany; the UPC is leaving not just the EPO/BoA in shambles; the whole political system or at least the Constitution is now being shredded to pieces. And not just in Germany! If they truly believe that ends justify any means, then they are causing great harm to their national parliament, the EU, and various other institutions too. What a mess! And Mr. Maas has been gleefully watching for afar and disregarding complaints because he wants the UPC.

"The UPC simply cannot coexist with Brexit, no matter what British elements of Team UPC have been trying to tell us (probably misleading their clients too, even knowingly)."The situation in the UK have been similar, but things changed after the public had voted to exit the EU (not that I'm in favour of it). The UPC simply cannot coexist with Brexit, no matter what British elements of Team UPC have been trying to tell us (probably misleading their clients too, even knowingly).

To those who have been brainwashed (indoctrinated by Team UPC) it comes as somewhat of a shock that the UPC is going nowhere. Helen Goodman, a British MP, wrote yesterday [1, 2]: "Government withdrew motion on Unified Patent Court with no notice last night. Chaos + confusion for industry, esp pharma and lawyers. [...] Is Government refusal to go ahead with Unified Patent Court sign that Hard #Brexit is on the way- risk to jobs in science and industry."

"...law firms produce nothing and pharmaceutical giants want the UPC in order to impose injunctions and sanctions, i.e. impede actual production by the industry."Relax, Helen. The UPC being thrown in the wastebasket is actually good news for "science and industry." The UPC is something that British scientists oppose, unlike the patent microcosm and those who created the UPC chaos. What Helen calls "industry, esp pharma and lawyers" is not really an industry; law firms produce nothing and pharmaceutical giants want the UPC in order to impose injunctions and sanctions, i.e. impede actual production by the industry.

Someone asked Helen: "What motion have they withdrawn? Is it the notification to the depositary of approval to ratify the UPC? The SI on Immunities for the court?"

Sooner or later the whole shebang will go down in flames. Max Walters sought further information and earlier today he wrote [1, 2]: "I'm told motion on Unified Patent Court not moved y'day after 'urgent parliamentary business' took priority. New date to be set after recess [...] Gov also reiterates that 'while a member' of EU it will honour commitments. However, official line is that UPC is not an EU institution..."

"It's all about the EU."It is.

Stop saying it is not.

Just look at the goddamn text. It's all about the EU.

Only Team UPC would dare deny it and yesterday the Scottish media was again infiltrated by Team UPC, again courtesy of Marks & Clerk. Will they give up trying to mislead the British public about the UPC?

Bristows LLP has also resorted to yet more distraction from the real news (nothing about the above, i.e. the latest on the UPC). How could they have missed it? Luke Maunder wrote some fluff about "UPC IT team", but he and his colleagues are simply ignoring the latest news. How typical of Team UPC...
