Hard Times with SUSE
WE TYPICALLY share just positive Novell news on Saturdays, but an exceptional number of negative writings about SUSE have appeared, so they might as well be presented separately, for completeness (we never skip or ignore Novell-related news).
Here is why SUSE is no leader on the desktop.
Yesterday was my first day to return to work. I plugged in my laptop with OpenSuse 11.1, and after the boot, the operating system did not recognize the display properties on my 17 inch monitor.
Another new disappointment:
Alas, openSuSE, you are not for me, but I still respect you and your community.
The upgrade didn’t work.

Overall, I am fairly displeased with the number of problems in this version. Many problems are probably because of incompatibilities in the config files from different versions.
One person did the right thing and moved to a distribution that’s not associated with Novell.
Goodbye openSUSE. Hello Linux Mint.

So, now I have a brand new Linux Mint installed. Apart from the above, it’s been working pretty well… no major problems… unlike openSUSE… and that’s a relief.
So that’s where it stands. █

Maybe Microshit’s bitch Novell should spend more time improving SUSE and less time infecting it with disgusting Mono/Moonlight.

Roy, I’ve got 11.1 installed with no problems. Even the wireless works well. There’s some anecdotal evidence on the other side of things.

Rest assured I never skip any Novell or SUSE article — be it good or bad. It’s a matter of where it fits.

These seem like the same type of problems people have seen with desktop linux in general.
Oh wait, you’re implying that openSUSE is “bad” because it comes from Novell, and of course insulting (you like that word) all the volunteers that put it together.
You whine about nitpicking all the time, yet here you are doing the same. You cannot possibly sit there and claim that x number of people having y problem is proof of some divine retribution as encoded by your claims. I wonder what people would think if you went and collected all the bad experiences I’ve seen from people running Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. Imagine having so many enemies!
Do you have any proof whatsoever of some mysterious link between Novell’s business deal with Microsoft and the quality of their community-supported distro? I’d would just LOVE to see that.
In the mean time of course we have your fan “Diamond” here, telling it like it is. You have great friends.
