MICROSOFT is still going through a rough period of technology disruption and declining financial results [1, 2, 3, 4]. It is therefore not surprising that many managers call it a day and the latest example is Larry Engel, who is quitting Microsoft.
Larry Engel, a 20-year veteran of Microsoft, announced Friday that he's leaving the company to become chief product officer at Seattle startup Cozi. Engel most recently served as general manager of Microsoft Pinpoint, and before that held the GM title for the Microsoft Store and Marketplaces group.

When the cybersecurity initiative packs the lot of them off to Camp X-Ray that will be 'leaving' instead of just metasticizing.

I'd prefer to see it die so that people will move to more sane options. The company i currently work for (UPS) was recently forced to update it's enterprise license for SQL, which is used on certainly no less than 1000 servers in the US alone. I got wind of the price... $5000 per machine (from what i understand, that's a hefty discount too [>50% off retail]). That seems like a waste of money to me when MySQL would work great (likely better [we sometimes crash]) and it's free. Alas, we are a M$ shop and will be into the foreseeable distant future.
