'Tech' is Not Technology
Yesterday 'Tech' Gimmicks Are for Advertising, Not for Usability
'Tech' is a 4-letter pseudo-word (abbreviation thereof) and last week I argued that 'Tech' and Technology are no longer the same thing because in practice 'Tech' (as in Big 'Tech' or whatever) barely refers to actual science or technology. I explained why, in my experience, people who say 'Tech' and refer to 'Tech' talk about mindless nonsense.
See, let's consider Computer Science. Then consider so-called 'vibe coding' [sic]. Is that science? Is that 'Tech'?
Sure, it's a gimmick, sort of like a plagiarism blender that falsely markets itself as "intelligence" or "efficiency" when as a matter of fact it is neither.
Some people use terms like 'Old Tech', but that's another matter. This typically refers to things which worked for many years and some aren't even technology but mere tools or tyres or something along those lines. In that context, "tech" can be a mere metaphor (like traditional "medicine", which typically means quackery, not medicine). █
