Bonum Certa Men Certa

Twitter is Insolvent. Elon Musk Changes the Business Identity.

Summary: Elon Musk is trying to accelerate the death of Twitter*; now he's just blatantly hijacking users' accounts, changing the names of everything without any consultation (the police got called into Twitter's headquarters this week), and it seems safe to predict little of that site (whatever it's called) will be left next year; deep in debt and still losing a lot of money each month (not even counting the cost of interest on the debt), Twitter is dead man walking or insolvent (but in denial about it)

THE video above mostly deals with the x.org/x.com situation because some lawyers are (in their words!) 100% certain there are trademark disputes/lawsuits on the way. There is also lots of confusion. As XRevan86 explained, "I saw a hyperlink to Twitter on a website and it made me think about how that would look like if it were "X". Completely unclear and way too close to a button to close a pop-up advert or something."

But wait, there's already another new scandal, which will be covered using reports in our Daily Links. Mr. Musk is now hijacking long-held Twitter handles of people, just like Freenode/Andrew Lee did two years ago with IRC channels ("Twitter’s ‘Joseon’ Moment" is what we've dubbed it). "Still, freenode hijacks were an order of magnitude worse," XRevan86 asserts, due to the scale and the prospect of impostering. Remember the time Freenode flushed out the whole database, allowing people to register other people's nicknames and channels?

For those who don't know what "Joseon" is about, read/glimpse at the following:

  1. Freenode is Compromised
  2. Freenode.net Becomes a 'Reddit Clone' and Freenode IRC is Back to Old Configurations After Flushing Down Decades' Worth of User/Channel Data and Locking/Shutting Out Longtime Users
  3. Joseon/Chosŏn IRC: Almost 5,000 Registered Channels (From Interim Freenode), But Only a Few Dozen Channels Have a Dozen or More Users

"Mr. Musk is now hijacking long-held Twitter handles of people..."At this point Mr. Musk is just trying to leverage Twitter to boost some of his other scams (yes, Mr. Lee did the same, he was deep in debt), including fakecoins. He's trying to project his own fraudulent business outfits into a space occupied by various communities, not just businesses.

"It's probably time for the US Government to step in and investigate all this."For those who don't know or forgot, Mr. Lee was trying to boost IRC.com (instead of Freenode, like X instead of Twitter) and Joseon (the domain/namespace), basically playing up his claims of grandeur (delusions of being a royal, who can assert "territory" using a bunch of fakecoins, as he had explained to me in person).

It's probably time for the US Government to step in and investigate all this. A lot of stuff gets ruined by self-serving charlatans. ______ * Mr. Musk has just gotten himself blocked completely in one of the world's largest populations (Indonesia). "Elon Musk just sabotaged one of the biggest markets for Twitter. Jakarta used to be Twitter's #1 city worldwide, is still in the top 3 (yes, really) and the city alone contributes to more than 2% of all global posts," as one person put it.
