The Web Has Become Chrome

Ponte Vecchio in Florence Italy

THE ongoing "series" about GNU/Linux in Europe has just reached Italy. There is a "local maxima" for GNU/Linux and that's good news.

But less on the subject of GNU/Linux, and thus less relevant to the sister site (Tux Machines focuses on the "tux" OS), is the observation that in terms of browser usage there is a similarity to France because Firefox is up and above 6% this month (that's twice the international average) and it's not some Mediterranean thing because Spain has Firefox usage below the international average.

So I've decided to download the data and make a chart of countries where Firefox usage remains high. It's feasible by going to this page (yes, Chrome is now dominant in virtually every country with sufficient data), download the CSV, then sort by Firefox usage, ascending/descending. Here are the top countries for Firefox (in relative share, not total number of users):

In Madagascar Chrome is measured at 48.17, so Firefox does not have a majority there. Look what Chrome has done (screenshot below). It wasn't so green last year.
