Mozilla Has Somehow Maintained High Firefox Share in France
SOME new Mozilla blunders are being discussed today in IRC. Verification is required, but it seems like there is misuse of funds and maybe even felonies committed.
Mozilla is now in somewhat of a limbo because Baker vacated her position (CEO) and the market share of Firefox continues to drop, right? People now take this for granted and assume there is no rebound over the horizon. Firefox is bleeding.
Any silver lining here?
Usage of Firefox in France is still relatively high (last year we noticed, based on statCounter, that it had maintained about 10% of the market there). Norway, where many seem to use GNU/Linux, does not show this trend, so the OS-browser correlation seems to be weak. In recent days we examined the situation in Germany, Britain, and Spain (large European economies) and judging by the data from France, the share of GNU/Linux usage there is not as high or not so high compared to the 4% international average or compared to other large EU countries/member states. Here's a graph of GNU/Linux usage in France, excepting ChromeOS:
Some years ago adoption of GNU/Linux was high in France compared to other European countries, but that's hardly the case anymore. When we hear of France we don't hear much about GNU/Linux (anymore); here in this site we habitually hear of corrupt EPO officials from France (Benoît Battistelli and António Campinos) or large-scale protests.
In many countries Firefox has already become a niche player with less than 1% of "the market". █
