How Much IBM Really Cares About Software Freedom (Exactly One Year Ago IBM Turned RHEL Into Proprietary Software)
As we've just shown again, Fedora (under IBM) does not truly value Free software. In principle some people prefer it, but in practice the people who participate in Fedora get herded into Microsoft's LinkedIn and other proprietary nonsense. Fedora is still mostly outsourced to GitHub (proprietary, Microsoft, and an attack on the GPL).
So where do we go from here? This isn't even IBM or Red Hat or RHEL... this is supposed to be their gateway to the community. This is Fedora. If Fedora itself cannot adopt freedom, should we get all shocked and upset when IBM dismantles GPL obligations in RHEL? It actually happened exactly one year ago. RHEL became proprietary software. █
