The Corporate/Mainstream Media and Even Social Control Media is Distorting the Record About What Mozilla Actually Did (It Originally Surrendered to Vladimir Putin)
THREE days ago I wrote about Mozilla Firefox and LibreWolf, emphasising perils on the "modern" Web - a subject I first wrote about 3 weeks ago and is now a solved issue (we can use Evri again without Chrom-isms).
Some days ago we learned that in Mastodon (or the Fediverse at large, not just Mastodon instances) Mozilla was bombing the signal with claims that it had stood up to Putin despite the very opposite being the original truth, predating massive backlash (we put some links about it in IRC and Daily Links; we did no articles about it until today as the dusk has settled). A right-leaning critic of Mozilla wrote about it, as did many others. To quote: "Mozilla Corporation (the for-profit, mega corporation behind the Firefox web browser) and the Mozilla Foundation (which owns the corporation) have begun banning access to censorship circumvention Firefox Extensions in Russia... in direct contradiction of the company's stated principles."
Here is the update (reversal): "Mozilla has reversed their censorship of these Firefox Extensions -- and released an official statement which appears specifically written to address the criticism outlined within this article."
Mozilla being avoided for purely technical reasons (sites not being compatible with it) is one thing. Foolishly, Mozilla is giving people more political reasons to also shun Mozilla. This is suicide. █
