For the First Time Since May Linux.com (Linux Foundation) Published Something. It's All Spam.
The Linux Foundation has effectively killed Linux.com. 5 years ago it suddenly fired all the people associated with it (no prior warning or a thank-you). Without writers or even editors, the site immediately perished.
Now, in July 2024, we see new "News" entries or newly-added "items" (for lack of a better word; bear with us!) - the first since May.
There is also one item - the first in two months - in another section:
Notice the third and last section, "System Administration + Linux Kernel". It's on the right and it hasn't been updated for nearly a year.
You may wonder what's in those two "new" items - ahem, yes, items. So here we go:
Yes, 7 words in total! Then a link to some proprietary thing, or sales.
The other one is just 5 words long. This too is sales.
Can we trust the Linux Foundation to look after anything at all? Look what it turned this once-thriving site into.
Sincere question: does the above look consistent with a behaviour of a firm (yes, that's the correct term) looking to help Linux succeed? Or one that looks to maximise sales of its own stuff, which is roughly 98% unrelated to Linux (judging by its budget allocation)? █
