YESTERDAY we wrote about (also see Gemini) GNU/Linux growing a great deal in recent years. It seems fair to estimate that around 100 millions desktops and laptops around the world run GNU/Linux. Many of these are in India.
In today's video I explain that, based on what I've read, in India it's easier to get PCs with GNU/Linux preloaded. An associate has since then said that "an important point there, which goes without saying and thus went unsaid, is that those figures [112,500,000 (112.5 million) users] are primarily only for those who have gone out of their way to find and install GNU/Linux or other editions of Linux. If it were available off the shelf, then we'd see a substantially different market share for the desktop. It'd probably start to resemble the server market or even the supercomputer market."
I've decided to do a long video to discuss this subject because it has been a long time since we last covered it. █
