Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF): Yes, you WILL be assimilated, otherwise you're a "crackpot" or "antivaxxer" or "fanatic" who rejects "progress" (i.e. rejects fake security, as preached by clowns)

SOME time later this year or next year we'll have very harsh things to say about the EFF, which instead of championing freedom of expression and computing freedom has in fact crushed both (with some exceptions).

"Self-signed certificates are all but impossible to deploy for TLS, regardless of protocol," an associate reminds me. We've been creating some software tools and this past week we published several articles stating and naming some of the culprits or show-stoppers [1, 2]. "The clients just don't support them," the associate explains. "HTTP clients give FUD-like errors and/or warnings. Clients for other protocols just refuse to connect."

He says "various libraries in various languages and scripting languages fail to support self-signed encryption too" and we've seen a lot more of that lately (we try to avoid mindlessly repeating what we argued before).

Today I am pleading for FSF to study and explain this issue to a large audience. The "EFF should be all over that one," the associate tells me, but I told him "EFF is part of the problem because it shilled the hell out of CAs and made tools to almost impose their adoption while taking bribes from Google" (which it does not deny, it has been boasting about it!).

I recently argued that "Mozilla openly tries to decide what you can and cannot read" and the associate says it is like with picking and choosing which TLS certificates are allowed. Remember who controls Mozilla (financially).

EFF retains the same name its 3 co-founders gave it. One of them is dead, another is now in the Board of the FSF (after an ugly break-up), and people's expectations from the EFF ought to evolve.

The EFF is working towards a world where GAFAM and the Pentagon (or PentaGAFAM) control almost everything, i.e. same as the Linux Foundation. Don't trust; they deserve worse than suspicion or mere scepticism. They've outsourced trust to untrustworthy entities. It pays their bills. They give violent and racist agencies plenty of leverage over your faculties.
