Microsoft and Apple Making a Lot of Noise to Distract From Severe Problems
As noted this morning, at least in passing (no links, intentionally), "Keep the Eye on the Hands" because Microsoft tries some new "Microsoft loves Linux" spin with a mostly meaningless move. This is an effort to distract from new articles such as "What Microsoft’s Borking of Grub Says About Redmond’s ‘Love’ of Linux" (hours old).
Quoting Christine Hall: "In truth, while Microsoft truly loves Linux running on it customers’ servers in the cloud, it would like nothing more than for Linux on the desktop to just disappear and quit threatening the near monopoly that Windows holds on desktop computing. As Bill Clinton might put it, when Microsoft says it loves Linux, it all depends on what your definition of “Linux” is."
Speaking of "servers in the cloud", this is what Microsoft is pushing right now (Linux is Azure is Microsoft is Linux...) because, yes, we get it, Microsoft. It's E.E.E. all over again:
The same author has just gone ahead with this:
We already wrote 3 articles regarding his departure and about that conundrum. We'll write more about this today. Apple is clearly having serious issues. It invested a lot of money in products nobody is willing to buy and even people who get it as a "gift" to review are unwilling to recommend, e.g. [1, 2].
To summarise, Microsoft is trying to use a bunch of nothingburgers to distract from its vandalism, which is still ongoing. Apple has serious financial issues and questions about its future directions. People don't have thousands to spend or waste on glorified toys. █
