nervous overload
I wouldn't qualify what is happening now as a burnout, but my nervous system is definitely in overload.
This feeling of never being able to fully rest, this nervousness, really easily being triggered by others, and being very emotional all indicate a week nervous system. I've got myself some royal jelly, since it helped quite a lot in the past.
The festival last weekend, although quite enjoyable was also a big source of stress on many levels.

Culture jamming the scientific method
Last week, a few friends of friends were over and we were talking about magic. These people, who are all really into the local Renfair scene, were particularly interested in Western esotericism. We were talking about approaching esotericism from an academic angle, which admittedly I know very little about. Not too surprisingly, since there's really not all that many universities that treat Western esotericism as an academic discipline. A friend commented on how fascinating it'd be to try and approach an old grimoire using the scientific method, in search of reproducible results. Interesting, I thought, before blurting out "wouldn't that be a bastardization of the scientific method?"

ROOPHLOCH 2024 Post 2 - LoRa transmission
Because I was a little unsatisfied with my standard setup for outdoor communication (Laptop/Smartphone Hotspot), I come up with this second ROOPHLOCH post, this time on my Gopher hole.

LoRa transmission - Follow up
I uploaded a repository to Codeberg.org with the scripts I used to do my LoRa transmission, which may be of interest to some people. I've found out most things by trial and error and the scripts are a little messy.

computer(s)
I fouled up the upgrade of the HP14 (which I called x2600) so I harvested it's parts, and the rest to trash. The Acer gaming laptop sits on the entertainment center, SSD + RAM to be harvested shortly. 1tb HDD already removed from it for a future project.
Now, I opt for a Nucbox, am overdue purchase I've been wanting/needing for a year. A bare bones G3, with my own upgrades to it.

backwards compatible...
Anticipating a glowing amber screen propped quietly on my desk. Small IRC messages and other online communicae [sic] chiming through. Or just to scroll through and lurk on forums. LWN is good, and Newgrounds. Midnight and blogs via RSS are lurking grounds, too

Extensibility and weekend projects
There is a binary choice between a protocol being inextensible, or that protocol ending up controlled by a small number of Big Tech organisations.
In the early days of Gemini, much was made of the notion that an implementation could be completed in a weekend. A statement to this effect still stands in the FAQ on the geminiprotocol.net capsule. There was also at the time a lot of controversy, some of it confected, about the extensibility of Gemini.

Crafting a Programming Language
The realm of programming languages is broad and nuanced, offering a wide array of needs and specific applications within computing. Some languages are preferred for data analysis due to their simplicity and ergonomics, while others are chosen for systems requiring high levels of hardware control and performance.
This diversity stems not only from technological evolution but also from personal preferences and the peculiar dynamics within programming communities. Different programmers and communities gravitate toward different programming paradigms, such as functional and object-oriented programming, each carrying its own set of complexities.
