Things That Can Improve Election Integrity

Election Repeaters

The following is my personal view: (the first two relate to "tech")

  1. Strongly discourage adoption of social control media (not just by kids and not just foreign-owned social control media)
  2. Adopt only physical (with paper trail) voting
  3. Subject political candidates to an oath of respect for imminent outcomes of elections
  4. Distribute leaflets to registered or potential voters, reminding them of the importance of voting (irrespective of who for)
  5. Provide incentives for people to vote (do not penalise those who don't; some countries do that) to prevent billionaires buying vote)
  6. Prioritise physical and online safety for workers in and around ballots
  7. Teach people critical skills about the media (scepticism breeds doubt about anything, even voting machines, but it also helps people detect obvious falsehoods or manipulation)
  8. Give everybody a day off work (or let people vote another day if they are critical workers, e.g. pilots or medical doctors)
