Feels Too Warm for Christmas
Christmas is here, no snow in sight
WE HAVE begun "slowing down", but output during the holidays or throughout the next two weeks will - on average - be the same as usual. Probably less over the next couple of days due to extended "AFK" time.
We've begun working on some more lengthy series for next year and over the past weekend I organised or reorganised some machines for improved efficiency, ergonomics, and comfort. I always realise there's something that has long been sub-optimal, maybe imperfect. Earlier today, in the process of adjusting, I broke off one of the chair's armrests. It's OK, the chair has been heavily used for nearly 5 years and I have a spare new chair available since 2020. I got both chairs (worth about 500 pounds) for free after a salesperson had scammed us (and the store). Long story, happy ending though.
Speaking of comfort, it's rather warm here. This Christmas Eve it'll be 13 degrees in Scotland. Mild enough for T-shirt and a comfy jog. I'm sure we have had some warmer Christmases before, but this one feels different. It's humid. It feels tropical. Apparently 104 years ago it was 16 degrees in Devon on Christmas day. 13 years ago it was 15 degrees in Scotland. This same page says the temperature was -18.3°C at Gainford, Durham (England) in 1878. Coldest Christmas Day... █
