Starting 2025 on a Strong Note
JUST before 2025 began we said we'd try to (on average) produce 20 articles per day, improve anchor text in links (to improve navigation, especially for Gemini users), improve text-only versions (for blind people) with good description of images, and never publish posts that are just an image (like a meme) and nothing else. We also said that we had developed and began testing draft(ing) features in our SSG, which goes back to summer of 2022 (we first deployed it to a sister site). Yesterday we finally added the draft(ing) features to this site [1, 2]. So far we've managed to fulfil all these promises or "new year's resolutions".
2025 began extremely well for us (also on the legal front) and we expect productivity to improve over time. Microsofters have been desperately trying to sabotage and derail us for several years already. They've tried everything, even illegal stuff!
Seeing that the news in general is slow this year (this was expected, as 4,000 journalism-related jobs were lost last year), we ought to find more time to produce our own stories. There are still some people who regularly cover GNU/Linux and we're thankful for that.
We'd also like to thank readers (over HTTPS or Geminispace or whatever) for making this platform worth running. They're the lifeblood of what we do. More audience means more motivation and we've always been pro bono, so there's no expectation of profiting from what we publish. Everything we do here we do for the community. It'll always be this way. █
