Software Freedom Conservancy Inc (SFC) Makes It Obvious It's Just a Copycat Trying to Exploit or Leech Off the FSF's (and GNU's) Work

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 17, 2025

This is hours old:

(Copying the exact same target as the FSF) SFC 2024 End-of-Year Fundraiser Succeeds: over $409,774 to support software freedom (no, that's the FSF)

Why did they choose this number? Why was this announced less than a day before the FSF is due to reach $400,000 and final cutoff date? Coincidence? No.

Have these greedy [1] people no shame? They're been attacking the FSF's (and GNU's) founder for over half a decade already, then they attacked the person behind the GPL and SFLC [2], whose organisation they copied also (the name).

Offloading to Microsoft isn't freedom, the SFC knows it, but all it cares about is money. They became what the FSF rightly refuses to become.

They swim next to the rich people (who "match") and serve the powerful [3].

_______

[1] Free as in Finance/Money: Salary of SFC's Chief Rose to $216,000 Per Year ($18,000 Per Month), or More Than Twice the FSF's Chief

[2] SFC (a Splinter Group, Not a Conservancy) Uses 'Man and Baby' to Find or At Least Look for Sympathy Amid War on SFLC and Its Chief, Professor Eben Moglen

[3] 'Splinter Group' SFC (Already Sued by Moglen/SFLC) is Not Really Against Microsoft GitHub, It Helps IBM/Red Hat Outsource GNU to GitHub Using the Same Excuses Microsoft Used When Lobbying for Kernel.org to Move to Proprietary GitHub
