Google Still Boosting Slopfarms
We no longer do Slopwatch, but we're still keeping an eye on LLM slop about "Linux" and related topics. Yesterday many people got back to work, so we expected an uptick in slop. Indeed, yesterday we found one site (a slopfarm) in the RSS feeds spewing out slop. It was LinuxSecurity:
No other site (that we saw) did this, but searching "linux" in Google News yielded commandlinux.com slop. This is all fake, including the imagery:
Aside from that, Google News linked to WebProNews:
Notice the lack of diversity and lack of relevance in slop images. They seem to have downgraded. Maybe it's cheaper this way.
Slopfarms will probably all perish as soon as Google News quits sending them visitors. Another factor is, due to crippling costs many slop providers will shut down or demand a fee; that will also contribute to the end of the slop frenzy. █
