[Meme] The 'Garbage in, Garbage Out' Patent Office

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 22, 2025

The "law of the buzzword": (optimise patent drafting and claims to the latest fashionable nonsense that technology giants pay media to parrot, e.g. "4IR" or "blockchain" or...)

Smith: y'all got any laws? 'ai' buzzword

The many abuses - or even countless illegalities - at the EPO may never stop unless or until the EPO ceases to exist or reboots entirely (completely new management, all past European Patents flushed down the toilet or presumed invalid by patent courts). We probably won't get there short of some very major political fiasco in Europe and no, we do not wish Putin "would deliver".

It's a very sad story in general. This is what happens when accountability is abandoned, immunity is given to white-collar criminals (resulting in crimes committed with impunity, like Battistelli's law-breaking bodyguard bringing shame to Macron years later).

Europe does not need another Mafia like the Kremlin.

If politics in the US causes you anger, perhaps you should pay closer attention to what happens in the EPO (mostly based in Germany). It's hardly the "lesser evil". There is pure evil in "EPOnia". People who worked in the EPO for 40 years say it has become "excitement" (their word!).
