Microsoft v Planet Earth

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Aug 05, 2025

Starting Windows

Microsoft is waiting for you to buy a new PC. Then, it arrogantly assumes, you'll get another licence (and version) of Windows. The new PC will take a ton of energy to produce (manufacturing) and waste more energy than before, maybe doing "hey hi" things or running more bloated programs. That's the Microsoft or Windows+Intel (WIntel) way. It's really bad for the planet, but that's what makes Microsoft's revenue a bit higher.

Is Microsoft profitable? Probably. But not as profitable as it wants you to believe (there are no independence audits). That's why there are so many layoffs this year.

Maybe Microsoft would like to get into the energy sector. Watch what's published on the same day as more than a dozen reports about Microsoft's wave of layoffs this August:

Microsoft-backed Seattle company lays off 60 employees

Microsoft-backed Seattle company lays off 60 employees

Yes, that's right, and further down the page we see similar reports about Microsoft layoffs this month. In "Windows Report", a Microsoft propaganda outlet, Rishaj Upadhyay spins this as "Microsoft Layoffs More Employees in Washington Despite Record AI Investments" (the Microsoft sites spin everything as "hey hi").

"Investments" in what Microsoft is cancelling and shutting down, right?

Because it's hardly secret that Microsoft is scaling down/back its so-called "AI Investments".

Like "cloud" (Azure), there's no real growth, only phony 'growth' (utter waste that fakes growth).

Who will be next to bail out Microsoft? Investment banks? The Microsoft-sponsored President?

An associate wonders, can parallels be made between the massive subsidies [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] for the obsolete fossil fuel industry and the obsolete Microsoft ecosystem / cult? Will taxpayers bail out Microsoft? It's not like the company is really worth much, it's just a pyramid scheme riding people's pension funds and money which does not really exist. And since "waste is cryptocurrency by definition", as an associate puts it, it's not sustainable. "Both Microsoft and big oil are holding back progress while pocketing tax money."

In fact, "Microsoft has held back computing by decades. Both [Microsoft and big oil] sabotage rather than progress."

It's no secret who's bankrolling a lot of the hype around "genAI". One can see that oil-rich nations and their cabal/lobby funds it, usually by proxy; this cabal/lobby both promotes it and funds "hey hi", as the energy that's wasted makes money (revenue) for those that sell energy.

Whether it's Windows or slop of all the hype around "genAI", Microsoft helps sell more oil. It's really bad for the planet, but then one can bribe the Linux Foundation for greenwashing [1, 2].
