The 2026 Slop Prediction (Slopfarms Perishing)
Slopfarms have definitely become rarer in Google News ("Gulag Noise") throughout the year. Sites that bear the word "Linux" (in their domain name and/or title) and regularly publish LLM slop have not vanished, just subsided, got marginalised/sidelined basically. We won't name them, we still track them.
4 of these sites are still very active, but that's fewer than what used to be (last year or January of this year). We can quickly skip these while keeping a mental note of output (slop) volume.
Sites don't perish if they don't publish. Sites do perish if they publish a lot of junk; people no longer bother reading them. At all.
By the end of 2026 we hope several remaining slopfarms (contaminating the 'webspace' with slop about "Linux") will become inactive or go offline. They serve no purpose; they're just plagiarism.
So-called "advanced" "AI" is not a technical advancement but an advanced excuse in how to make legal excuses for plagiarism, using technical capabilities that were always there but not explored for legal reasons, including known risks/dangers. There are also financial aspects.
The charlatans and frauds who do this with impunity (for debt, not profit) these days would not have been tolerated if we had the ethics of the 1990s. Morality in the "digital world" has deteriorated profoundly. █
