Social Control Media is Not a Viable Business Model

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Apr 07, 2026

Debt has ballooned:

The following section summarizes insights on Trump Media and Technology Group Corp's Total Debt

Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG) or Cheeto's DJT:NASDAQ was doomed to fail right from the very start. Everyone with a clue said this right from the very start, but now it's beginning to unravel: (the debt above is part of the story; the shares collapsed too)

The Trump Truth Store in the Chicago suburbs had to close temporarily as sales plummeted during the widely unpopular Iran war, The Chicago Tribune reported.

The MAGA-themed business based on President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform in Crystal Lake abruptly closed, according to The Tribune.

Owner Lisa Fleischmann announced that the store would remain shuttered in a Facebook post on March 26.

If Cheeto tries to break records by becoming the lowest rated (by independent popularity polls) president ever, then congratulations, but to us what matters is the evidence that social control media is a failure and with no exceptions to it, it's all doomed to shut down, eventually. Unless it is subsidised by very rich people to serve their interests, it'll die. That's just not sustainable.

Twitter, for instance, became a megaphone of MElon's agenda and when losses persisted and grew they tried to help people produce fake porn, including of children. That didn't go well.

The future of the Web might not be the Web. We hope that more and more people recognise the Web became some JavaScript (or WASMs) bloatware with CAPTCHAs and other nonsense. The Net will stay, as it has been around for over half a century. As social control media is designed around the "casino model" or "gaming model" (making people addicted) it'll never be a good use of time. We need to explain this to "heavy users" of those things. █
