BetaNews is Still Publishing Fake Articles, Sometimes Fake News, or LLM Slop Disguised as 'Journalism'
Sponsored by masterminds of the debt-derived pyramid scheme:

A pyramid scheme that plunders people who never participate(d) in it, as Cringely explained yesterday:

We wrote a great deal about BetaNews in 2024 and last year. BetaNews employed the Serial Slopper (Fagioli) and it was therefore a firehose of fake articles and plagiarism about "Linux".
Seeing a bunch of articles about Canonical and Google, it seems like BetaNews threw an LLM at them to come up with this superficial nonsense that says not much and contain bland synthesis:

Slop image, real person (but they seem to be misusing the name of people to cover up for bots, as we showed last year).
If it quacks like a duck.
Well...

The above was promoted by Google News, that's why we saw it. Can Google still not properly detect slop plagiarism? A better question might be, why does Google exempt itself from the slop blackmail? Is Google trying to monopolise slop plagiarism? Maybe not just yet, as it enrolled this slopfarm into Google News:

Fake article and FUD about "Linux", as usual.
It has also just linked to two fake articles from Linux Journal and some from Linuxiac. Slop isn't yet a thing of the past, but hopefully we'll get close to that by the end of this year.
The cost - or the overall societal toll - of this pyramid scheme will last a long time... they are crashing the economy and kicking the can down the road to inflate the bubble as much or as long as they can get away with. Sort of like IBM with "quantum". █
