Slop Did Not Rewire Democracy, It's a Giant Flop
Six months ago I began reading this book about "hey hi" (not composed by slop) though I was not genuinely interested in it. I felt compelled to read as it had been sent to me gratis by the publisher/author. By December 7th (2025) I reached page 81 and then I stopped. I mostly lost interest for reasons that I explained back in December and in January. I said it would be worth revisiting later on, probably when the disproportionate hype "calms down" a bit.
Did slop change democracy all that much? I don't feel that way, not based on what I read. Social control media is a weapon that does interfere with democracy, but it's not the same as slop even if in theory it can contain bot (slop) accounts.
Public sentiment has since then turned strongly against slop and politicians (or business officials) who boost/promote slop are literally being booed by crowds. I reckon that within a year or two it'll be widely accepted that politicians who associate with slop have no chance at seizing or retaining public office. What's more, we already see slop giants accepting they'll never make money; that's why they "go public" (offloading risk and losses). Plagiarism is not a business model, nor does it scale legally. It's just the "next-gen NFT" or Ponzi scheme, where the NTFs are "gen"(erated) by mass-plagiarism with no real inherent value, just quantity and huge power/water/hardware bills. We don't need "AI regulation", we need pyramid scheme regulation (and action). █
