Novell's love for .NET, OOXML, ActiveX, Vista, and Silverlight was discussed here before, along with accompanying examples.
Watch
this new post from Novell's public relations department. "Novell is pleased to announce the availability of its OpenOffice.org Novell Edition for Windows," states the post.
AlbertoP, one of the OpenSUSE volunteers, has already responded to this. He wrote: "Next time maybe say “Windows and Linux”. Linux should be your preferential platform, at least according to what you write on your site. For your information OpenOffice 3.0 packages are not available yet for SUSE in the Build Service. Next time maybe prioritize your platform and then think to Windows."
This is not the first time that
Novell is seen prioritising OpenOffice.org (Novell Edition) for Windows and even offering it better things with it than the GNU/Linux version. Novell
sings a similar tune in its Web site. In some cases, Novell offers only Windows support in its
brand-new products while leaving GNU/Linux out in the cold.
Does anyone still believe that Novell is serious about GNU/Linux?

Is suse & opensuse separate from novell proper? Do thesequestionable decisions come from novell or does it also include the people involved with the distro?

Quote: "Four days ago, an article purporting to analyse the raison d'etre behind the website BoycottNovell.com appeared on the linux.com site. The author, Bruce Byfield, who styles himself as a "computer journalist", however, failed to tell his reading public that the piece was just a thinly disguised and veiled attack on the person who runs the BoycottNovell site." by Sam Varghese, Tuesday, 28 October 2008
