EPO Crisis Under António Campinos - Part 1: Le Guern's “Disappearance” Triggers Internal Crisis at the European Patent Office (EPO)

EPO's Gurvan Le Guern

Summary: Update on the mysterious "disappearance" of Gurvan Le Guern who was allegedly hired by Bergot as the EPO's "pension plunderer"

Back in April 2017 Techrights reported on the "latest French Hire of Battistelli", a certain Mr Gurvan Le Guern from the French bank Crédit Agricole SA (Paris), who was rumoured to be "after EPO workers’ pensions".

The focus of the story back then was about Le Guern's appointment as the new head of the EPO's Directorate of "Compensations and Benefits" following his recruitment from Crédit Agricole by the EPO's head of HR, the notorious Elodie Bergot, a key member of "Team Battistelli".

"This information was gleaned from a communiqué issued by the EPO staff union SUEPO to its members on 4 February in which SUEPO expressed concerns about Le Guern's sudden and unexplained absence from official duties."Earlier this month Techrights reported that Le Guern appeared to have jumped ship.

This information was gleaned from a communiqué issued by the EPO staff union SUEPO to its members on 4 February in which SUEPO expressed concerns about Le Guern's sudden and unexplained absence from official duties.

In the meantime it turns out that the communiqué from SUEPO reporting on the mysterious "disappearance" of Mr Le Guern has triggered a veritable internal shitstorm at the EPO.

"In the meantime it turns out that the communiqué from SUEPO reporting on the mysterious "disappearance" of Mr Le Guern has triggered a veritable internal shitstorm at the EPO."In correspondence recently published on the EPO Intranet, the EPO President António Campinos has openly accused SUEPO of having crossed "red lines" and he has demanded an unconditional retraction and apology.

In addition to this it is reported that Campinos has cancelled all face-to-face meetings between EPO management and SUEPO representatives until further notice or at least until SUEPO apologises unconditionally.

More details about this latest escalation in the ongoing social conflict at the EPO will follow shortly.
