THE consistent exodus at Twitter gains further steam (except some places like Japan) and high-profile 'quitters'. This is good. This is what we want to see. A few years ago, just before the pandemic, Professors Eben Moglen gave this good talk and we've decided to crop out some relevant portion in a free format (10:58-14:52).
Facebook usage plunged in North America and plummeted in South America (also elsewhere); let's hope all those social control networks will deteriorate in terms of "share" - if not collapse - next year.
Nothing of value would be lost if all these data-harvesting giants (profiling people) vanished overnight.
Bytedance/TikTok (spying operation/user front end, respectively) is worse because of its handler, the autocratic communists in China, who leverage it not just to cause conflict or self-harming behaviour outside China (it's called "opium" rather than "spinach" TikTok); they use it for censorship while crying over "censorship" any time some public official somewhere suggests banning Bytedance/TikTok. █
