10 More Days
Tux Machines turns 20.
SO far this week, both here and elsewhere (mostly Tux Machines), I've published about 20 original articles per day. We've also secured a second venue for a second Tux Machines party (it turns 20 in less than a fortnight!), as those attending come from different groups and different backgrounds. Tux Machines is not a highly technical site; right from its humble beginnings in 2004 it aimed to introduce GNU/Linux to "the masses".
Microsoft layoffs are floating in the news again. Reputable sources say there's a lot more on the way and we even heard rumours/gossip about many Red Hat employees exiting the company (learning about plans to reduce headcount probably motivates them to seek alternatives).
June will begin this weekend and we'll probably spend more time outdoors (cycling, drinking coffee and basically "AFK"). But we expect publication pace to remain unchanged. Today in this site alone we got about half a million requests. The reach is growing, even if the Web sucks and gets worse over time. We've become a lot more efficient. █
