New Study: Social Control Media Going Out of Fashion as More People Recognise It For What It Really Is
Social engineering (or conditioning at scale) and mass censorship
THIS new article gives a glimmer of hope. Quoting bits from it: "Research by the University of Sussex Business School has found that lost revenue, censorship and breaches of privacy are leading popular content creators to lose faith in the channels, such as TikTok and Instagram, that helped them rise to fame."
Also this: "Censorship was cited as another reason for wanting to abandon centralized channels. Content creators expressed frustration over inconsistently applied moderation rules. This includes disproportionate removals of content published by marginalized groups, such as members of the LGBTQ+ community or people of color, when they focus on their marginalized identities."
It says "YouTube penalizing historic content for profanity [...] tested this faith."
We already saw some Linux-focused YouTube channels being suspended for stuff they uploaded years ago and was perfectly lawful. It's just insane!
Society needs to accept that "social media" is mostly antisocial. Civil people can avoid it. █
