After Mass Layoffs in the Edge Team, or Chrome Cloners Who Rely on Windows Bundling, Microsoft Should Quit the Web Browsers Race (Its Share Decreased This Past Year)
THE Web browsers market has been lost by Microsoft in spite of Windows. As shown below, based on this data (ODF), Edge lost share this past year:
As a Chrome 'clone' with extra malware, it was bound to fail all along. Just trying to force people to use it would not be sufficient.
Microsoft is trying to cheat again. As per Microsofters:
>Reports indicate Abusive Monopolist Microsoft is using the Bing Wallpaper app to get backdoored Windows 11 users to switch to Bing as the “recommended browser settings” for fast and secure search results.
Wow, "fast and secure"? Really? Anyway, that's what Microsofters say.
At one point Microsoft tried to convince people to use "Edge" by telling them that chatbots or Bing Chat would only be available to them.
Microsoft seems to be recognising that it lost this battle for good, having already laid off many of the developers who worked on Edge and also Bing. In other words, there seems to be no long-term strategy, they just name-drop "AI" everywhere and pray for magic. █
