Support SUEPO or End Up Like They and Some of the Boards Did

The managers at EPO are attempting the infamous and counterproductive 'decapitation strategy' (figureheads first)

Hands off our representatives

Summary: SUEPO, the fast-growing staff union of the EPO, increasingly needs the support and protection offered by action and participation from staff

THERE is an office in Europe which is run by a George Bush-like leader who deluded himself into thinking that he fights a war on terror, not herding staff or even cats. As a result, many people are now living in a state of fear, even for just daring to speak to colleagues about many EPO abuses.

"It not only eliminates people but also severely discredits -- sometimes libels them too -- in the process (one famous example of this is Julian Assange and Wikileaks)."The EPO's management is now clearly attempting a decapitation strategy (usually called that in the context of drone strikes). It not only eliminates people but also severely discredits -- sometimes libels them too -- in the process (one famous example of this is Julian Assange and Wikileaks). This help frame them as a nuisance for everyone -- one that jeopardises everyone's jobs when actually it's the aggressor (the management in this case) that can leave the office in a miserable state of affairs and no 'clients' (applicants). What we really have here is aggressive management trying to present 'violent' staff to the public, via corruptible media (the EPO sure likes to manipulate the media and has professionals who are skilled at that). We'll expand on that in the next article.

I am not a patent examiner myself (I am probably qualified to have become one, having already peer-reviewed for tier-one international journals and got my relevant academic degrees), but if I was working for the EPO, I would definitely support SUEPO. So should everyone else, especially and at the very least because they became the subject/target/whipping boy of vicious personal attack by the management, showing the true colours of these maniacs who are drunk on power (and unprecedented immunity from the law).

"They start with one single judge, now they target an entire union, and what's next? Union members?"Whatever the managers tell staff or tell the press, don't believe them. They are trying to manipulate their staff and the public against their scapegoat du jour. Sooner or later, if their plan is allowed to proceed, they'll move on to gradually-broadened sets of scapegoats (the latest media narrative from EPO is that it all boils down to a conspiracy of a couple of people -- a conspiracy against a single person, the 'poor' President). They start with one single judge, now they target an entire union, and what's next? Union members? The more people join this union, the harder this strategy will be to actually implement.
