Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Admits Failures and Criticism of Inaction on SLAPPs
Months ago: Like the Serial Strangler From Microsoft, Donald Trump is Out of Time and Has Jurisdiction Issues in the UK
Earlier today I saw this new report about SLAPPs and more. It notes that "Gallagher also hit out at government lack of action on SLAPPs and IPSO 'overreach'."
Gallagher is very high-profile here in the UK and what he points out is also recognised by Lords, so why don't they do anything about it? How long should we wait? In 2024 two Americans filed SLAPPs against me and against my wife. We survived the SLAPPs and we've here to tell our story, as our barrister (originally from Ofcom) encouraged us to. Some time soon we'll resume the series "Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Inaction and Incompetence". It is currently delayed because we are speaking to politicians, as we repeatedly promised that we would. It has been fruitful lately [1, 2] and we don't want to get in their way.
As for the SRA, it has been squirming for over 2 months already and 8 hours ago, in its own Web site, the SRA said: "Fundamentally, we need to be trusted to do our job and to have an impact" (they realise they have neither trust nor impact).
In more recent hours there was this article:

Also see "Rapson sets out priorities for turning round SRA performance":
Last month, she pledged a ‘back to basics’ drive that would see the SRA focus on its core responsibilities and move to keeping law firms in compliance without having to take enforcement action.
This is just "damage control" or face-saving nonsense:

The SRA did nothing useful while hired guns sent over 75 KG of legal papers, including thousands of pages of binary slop/soup (they don't care what they print! They might not even check!!).
Speaking of slop, our latest Daily Links include this from the news:
-
Absurd AI-Powered Lawsuits Are Causing Chaos in Courts, Attorneys Say, “Clogging the System” and Driving Up Costs
"Nobody realized how unhinged things would get."
"The courts have been weak on disbarring lawyers who sneak slop into their paperwork," an associate has remarked on the above. "That's a mistake and that oversight is now causing the slop to grow out of control."
We'll follow up with a longer article later.
SRA officials no longer pretend to have credibility. They accept that they have almost none! So what does this mean? In simple terms, it means many if not all solicitors and solicitor firms in the UK are in effect unregulated. █
