Quitting 'Clown Computing' and GAFAM is Only the Start

Facebook, Like, Social Media

I LEFT all social control media when Russia invaded Ukraine. I had many reasons to leave it and wartime propaganda (misinformation) was among the final (last) straws. A site that had been added to Twitter (not by me) was later removed from social control media as well. This means we're now 100% independent from the fate and whims of social control media propaganda/censorship sieves (where one "added value" is mass surveillance of users). The emergence of social control media led to a great deal of self-censorship or "algospeak"; seeking to appeal to groupthink (ape-think) and algorithms, based on the idea that "viral" is virtue, people lied to themselves and to others. They were not being themselves and there's an article to that effect in our latest Daily Links. Stop saying what you don't believe to be true; society won't advance this way.

Our previous hosting was provided by someone who imposed limitations on speech to the point where defending ourselves from criminals (i.e. my wife and I speaking about people who had committed crimes against us) was impermissible and resulted in threats. The means that evading social control media is not always enough. People need to gravitate towards self-hosting and encourage use of RSS feeds, not "Planets" (more ape-think) and so-called "federation" (those two are means of quasi-centralised censorship).

The Web and the Net at large became far too centralised. That must change. All centralised systems are de facto cages, at least for minds.
