Nonsense in 'the News' That Makes You Want to Spit Out the Coffee in Laughter
THE breaking news about Google News [1, 2] is not saddening at all*. They deserve it, as they suck really badly these days. Maybe they will be out of service some time soon.
Companies should never be in control of news about themselves. Microsoft bribes publishers, Google just controls a lot of what people see or find on the Web. Both are problematic for different but overlapping reasons. Google also censors by "demonetisation" (for ads), Microsoft just withdraws advertising contracts unless it gets its way and rewards publishers for the bias/self-censorship.
Google News staff should find a real job, one that does not hurt society and misleads entire populations on behalf of corporations and empires.
What have they given us in recent years if not sheer laughter and misinformation/disinformation from companies like Microsoft and hugely racist sites? (They still want everyone to forget that latter thing)
A few hours ago I went to Google News to find any "linux" news I may have missed in my normal routine (lots of RSS feeds covered) and the fifth result from the top said "Qubitstrike attacks rootkit Jupyter Linux servers to steal credentials - BleepingComputer"; just to be clear, BleepingComputer is a Microsoft connected site, but Google does not seem to care (it even syndicates Microsoft's official site as a "news" source) and moreover on some days about 30% of Google News results for "linux" are trashy, flimsy, factually-invalid anti-Linux FUD pieces, mostly composed by Microsoft-sponsored site to mislead and dramatise things. Imagine searching for "linux" only to be told by Microsoft connected sources that Linux is the really bad security menace (the FUD theme is usually some security issues, never mind if Apple and Microsoft put back doors in their operating systems). We did loads of videos about this in the past.
Anyway, the latest example of FUD is about a Jupyter Notebooks issue, not Linux. Imagine the media calling Photoshop holes a Windows issue. █

*And that might work to our advantage as we've made alternatives to it for years already.
