Union Syndicale Fédérale on Salaries/Remuneration Erosion
The EPO, as governed by the EPC, was meant to properly compensate its staff to assure it can attract and also retain suitably qualified examiners. Nowadays the EPO blatantly violates the EPC.
THE EPO's staff representatives recently shared this 5-page letter-like publication from USF, a union 'syndication' that operates across Europe and in this case responds to rising inflation (wages have not been keeping up with it and won't keep up, either).
We thought we'd reproduce it here.
As readers are aware, especially those who pay close enough attention, the EPO is in effect reducing the salaries of workers over time, even if their experience level grows. That's also true in a number of other sectors and the issue merits deeper debates, which politicians rarely initiate (but they do vote to increase their own salaries). █
