The "D" in Debian Stands for Dictatorship That Extends to Censorship at DNS Level
When authoritarians from companies like Googlesoft and Microsoft control everything (by "funding" everything, even SPI) there's no room for discussing real issues that can evidently implicate GAFAM boosters.
Daniel Pocock's sites like debian.day
have officially been hijacked by WIPO/ICANN-centered lawfare (this week they're no longer accessible). Debian/SPI apparently didn't even use these domain for anything. They just took over a dozen sites offline for containing the string "debian".
Boo hoo! So an actual Debian Developer wrote about Debian and they didn't like what he said and showed.
Are Debian Developers endorsing such censorious acts? Can they even resist these decisions in public without suffering immediate reprisal (secret punishments)? If not, are they really free of bossing? Or is the boss merely invisible?
To his credit, former candidate for Debian leadership, Felix Lechner, did resign over this (based on the timing), as was noted here/elsewhere before, e.g. [1, 2].
Of course the registrar, which charged for domains until 2025, just went along with it. Complying blindly lessens their bills. █
