Trying to Put Out the Fire at Microsoft
Microsoft is drowning in debt while laying off loads of staff, hoping it can turn things around
IN about a week from now we'll know if Microsoft is managing to pay back its gigantic debt (after many layoffs) or the debt just keeps growing. Hours ago a news site from Kenya said "After reducing its workforce in Nigeria by half, Microsoft plans to scale back its office space..."
Nigeria is a country whose population isn't much smaller than that of the US, so when Microsoft culls half the staff there, then it probably means something. There still seems to be anger - even within Microsoft - directed at the CEO.
There will be lots more Microsoft layoffs because the company is grossly oversized compared to its actual role in the market, which continues to shrink. █
