Why We Post Statistics About the Usage of Operating Systems Worldwide

10 Percent

We're hoping to see GNU/Linux at over 10% (on desktops/laptops) some time in the coming years

THE TIPPING point is already here. Windows is in a freefall, and moreover it's not just Google's ChromeOS and Android that replace it. There is also substantial growth for "proper" GNU/Linux. We need to document this sort of stuff because it's a thorn on Microsoft's side and it seems to be striking a nerve - to the point where my wife and my mother are being viciously attacked, plus SLAPP litigation.

So far in the day (today) we published 22 pages/articles and yesterday a total of 30 (it's only 3 PM here) because these malicious attacks on our efforts to publish information merely affirm we're on the right path, much more so considering the SLAPP comes from Microsofters.

An associate sent me this link today. It's about the latest mega-backlash against Vista 11, whose relative usage levels are declining in spite of being the latest version, glued onto new PCs. It's extremely unpopular. Microsoft is "trying to commit suicide", Charlie Stross has alleged (several people sent us this link). Regarding the above article, "hasn't earned" (trust) is the understatement of the century, the associate says. Microsoft "has gone out of its way for decades to proactively betray any trust it might have been allocated. Some of the spin include the point that Recall(tm) does not have keylogging. No it does not. That misfeature has already been deployed in Vista 10."

They're basically boiling the frog here, just like with UEFI 'secure' boot (which is about denying users the ability to use an operating system of their choice). It's a stepping stone towards digital enslavement.

Users need to jump out of the boiling pot and not into the frying pan (Apple) but into safe harbours, e.g. BSDs and GNU/Linux. Many seem to be doing so already.

Our objective, however unrealistic, is to have a world where all computer users have full freedom (control over their computing).
